PROVO -- The BYU Athletic Department recently received multiple honors from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA), for outstanding publications produced during the 2007-08 year.
Both the women's soccer and men's volleyball media guides earned Best in Nation by CoSIDA, while several athletic posters also received top awards among Division I schools.
"We are fortunate to have a lot of talented people on our Athletic Communications staff," said associate athletic director Duff Tittle. "The national awards are an indication of their dedication and passion for BYU Athletics. Having two media guides named best in the nation is an outstanding accomplishment."
Media guides are written, designed and compiled by various BYU Athletic Communications employees. Those contributing to the women's soccer guide included Norma Collett, Darrin Bates and Kamie Robinson. Robinson also worked on the men's volleyball guide, along with Brent Johnson and Joel Mitchell.
In addition to the Best in Nation honors, the BYU women's volleyball media guide earned second in its district. The guide was written and designed by Jen Connery.
CoSIDA also recognized two BYU athletic posters. The 2008 men's basketball poster was named the second-best collegiate poster in winter sports, while the BYU football poster earned a fourth-place spot in the fall sports.
The 2008 BYU baseball poster earned a remarkable second place for Olympic sports, and the 2007 football poster placed third nationally by NACMA. This marks the fifth-consecutive year which at least one BYU athletic poster has been ranked nationally in the top two.
All media guides and posters are designed by BYU's Athletic Publications and Graphics Department overseen by Dave Broberg. The posters receiving recognition were designed by Broberg and Seth Alling, with photos taken by BYU Photographers Mark Philbrick and Jaren Wilkey.
NACMA also honored a newspaper advertisement produced by BYU's Athletic Marketing staff. The ad placed third in the single newspaper display advertisement category.
