PROVO -- BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe today announced BYU and the University of Nevada have agreed on the final game of a three-game series that will be played in 2010 in Provo.
The series dates back to a BYU victory over the Wolfpack in Provo during the 2001 season, and continued with a Nevada victory in Reno in 2002. The third game of the series has been rescheduled multiple times at the request of both schools. The final game of the series will be played at Edwards Stadium on September 25, 2010.
"I am pleased we were able to work out the details of completing the third and final game of the original series," Holmoe said. "Both teams have enjoyed recent success and the game should be a good one in the eyes of both schools and the fans."
Despite being relatively close geographically, the teams have met in football just seven times. The first contest was a 10-7 victory at Nevada on September 28, 1929. The 2001 game marked the first meeting between the two teams since 1940. BYU holds an overall series record of 4-1-2.
With the addition of Nevada to the 2010 schedule, the Cougars will also play in Provo against Washington, and will travel to Florida State and Utah State.
