PROVO -- In what is becoming somewhat of a tradition at the mid-way point of fall camp, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced to the team this morning that he had canceled practice. Instead of practicing, the team enjoyed the morning at the movies, watching the Hollywood blockbuster, "The Dark Knight."
"It's a great time to give the guys a break and give them time to re-focus on the remainder of fall camp," Mendenhall said. "The players have done exactly what we have asked them to do. I think this provides them a great opportunity to sharpen their focus and prepare for the final eight days of fall camp, and then to begin preparing for our first opponent."
The Cougars will return to the practice field on Friday with another round of two-a-days in preparation for a scrimmage at Edwards Stadium on Saturday.
"It's nice to step away from football for a few hours," quarterback Max Hall said. "We've been working pretty hard to get ready for the season, and it's nice when we can sit back and relax for a little while. We'll be ready to get after it again tomorrow."
The team will participate later this evening in the annual Cougar Kickoff. The event is an opportunity for fans to come and meet members of this year's team, along with members of the women's soccer team, the cross-country teams and the women's volleyball team. The event will be held at Haws Field and will start at 6 p.m. (MT).
