ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Sept. 19, 2008) – BYU’s women’s golf team is showing consistency through round two of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in New Mexico.
Previously in a tie for the No. 11 spot with Campbell, the Cougars slipped one place to finish the second round in 12th place with a +15 effort on Friday, +32 overall.
Freshman Maggie Yuan showed a huge improvement in round two as she finished the day at even-par, a big jump from her +8 performance from Thursday and is currently in a tie at the No. 41 spot. After bogeying holes 15 and 16, she responded by making birdies on holes 17 and 18.
Sophomore Jade Bollinger also improved by two strokes on Friday finishing at +3 after a +5 effort from round 1. She started the day off well by scoring birdies on holes 1 and 2 and is in a tie with Yuan at No. 41.
Natalia Jimenez is showing consistency by completing both rounds at +4 and joined forces with Yuan and Bollinger at No. 41. Her highlight of the day was a birdie on Hole 11. Junior Shayla Forsey and sophomore Sara Romero completed the round at +8 and +9, respectively.
Pepperdine is in a tie for first place with host New Mexico at +1. UC Davis is well behind in third place at +10.
