A story about Angie Roberts, wife of a BYU baseball assistant coach, and her battle with cancer won the Best Sports Story from the Utah Broadcasters' Association.
“Angie Roberts' Story,” produced by BYUTV Broadcaster Jarom Jordan, was among the UBEE Winners at last weekend’s annual UBEE awards program in Salt Lake City. The student-produced story was selected over other entries from all television and radio stations from Utah.
Last Spring the BYU team decided to wear the initials ARR above the left bill of its caps for the remainder of the season to show support for Angie Roberts (her maiden name is Roberts). Angie was diagnosed with breast cancer and has made successful progress following surgery last month and radiation treatments.
Coach Ryan Roberts shaved his head last month in a demonstration of support for his wife, but she is winning the contest in growing hair back.
