PROVO -- BYU fans will have their first opportunity to preview the 2008-09 BYU men’s volleyball team when it hosts it’s traditional Alumni Match at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Coming off its first preseason tournament of the year at the University of Hawaii last weekend, the Cougar squad is excited to continue its preparation and growth for the upcoming season.

“This will be one of the best teams we play all year,” said BYU head coach Shawn Patchell. “Our alumni guys are still in great shape and are experienced. It will be a great test for our young team.”

The alumni team will consist of seven former Cougars, including current assistant coach Rob Neilson (’06). Joining him will be Michael Burke (’05) and five members of the 2004 graduating class, Joe Hillman, Jonathon Alleman, Cory Carpenter, Chris Gorny and BYU women’s assistant coach Shawn Olmstead. All seven players were members of the 2004 National Championship team.

Admission to the match is free.
