PROVO -- For the third time in her BYU career, senior forward Katie Larkin was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Third Team.

“We are very excited for Katie to receive her third All-American award,” said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. “She has had an outstanding career at BYU, and has led her team to tremendous success. Katie has worked very hard to become the player that she is today. Her love for the game is contagious, and she makes everyone around her want to be at their best. She has excelled both on and off the field and exemplifies everything that is great about college athletics.”

Arriving in Provo as a freshman in 2005, Larkin made an immediate impact, playing in all 21 of the team’s games, notching four goals and five assists. She finished second in the Mountain West Conference with 64 shots, and was named First-Team All-MWC and NSCAA/adidas All-West Second team, along with being selected to the SoccerBuzz West Region Freshman Team.

Larkin continued to impress during her sophomore season in 2006. She led the team with seven goals, four game-winning-goals, five assists and 19 points. She was named MWC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18, and was named the National Player of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer.com as well. Following the season, Larkin was again named to the All-MWC First Team, as well as being recognized on the SoccerBuzz All-America Third Team and the NSCAA/adidas All-America Third team. The NSCAA also named Larkin to the All-West First team.

Starting all 23 games in 2007, Larkin put together her most impressive offensive performance in a season with 15 goals, five assists and 35 points. Named to the Hermann Trophy watchlist at the beginning of the season, Larkin led the Cougars to a 17-4-2 record and the MWC Tournament Championship. She was named All-West Region by the NSCAA, and was also named to the NSCAA/adidas All-America Third team for the second-straight year.

The 2008 season again found Larkin on the Hermann Award watchlist, and she was also named to the watchlist for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS award. She totaled 11 goals and 23 points on the season, leading the team to an undefeated regular-season MWC championship as well as the MWC Tournament Championship. She was also named the 2008 MWC Offensive Player of the Year.

BYU went to the NCAA Tournament each of Larkin’s four years with the team.

After four years at BYU, Larkin has made her mark on the record books. She finishes with 37 career goals, which ties her for fourth most all-time. Her 270 shots are also the fourth most for a Cougar. She totaled 91 points over four years and finishes eighth all-time in that category.

Larkin is one of six Cougars named All-America by the NSCAA. The others include current women’s soccer team coach Aleisha Rose, and Shauna Rohbock, BYU’s career goals-scored leader with 96, Maren Hendershot, Jamie Rendich Beck and Staci Reynolds.
