PROVO -- For the second time this season, Hermann Trophy candidate senior Andrea Willis was named MWC Defensive Player of the Week.
Willis recorded her first goal of the year, and first goal by a Cougar defender this season, in BYU’s win over Southern Utah. The Riverside, Calif., native scored off a corner kick to put the Cougars up 2-0 and help BYU to their fourth consecutive win in a 3-2 victory over the Thunderbirds.
In BYU’s 3-0 shutout against Utah State, Willis and the defensive line kept the Aggies to a total of four shots, compared to the Cougars’ 21.
See the No. 14 Cougars in action Thursday, Oct. 1, against No. 14 Oregon at 7 p.m. Saturday's game against instate rival Utah will be the Deseret First Duel for 2009. Utah currently leads the duel 3-0.
