AUSTIN -- Day two at the 83rd annual Texas Relays went well for the BYU women’s track and field team, with several athletes accomplishing outdoor-best marks and competing well with the best athletes in the country.
Senior Kari Clark placed third in the pole vault competition, finishing at a height of 4.21-meters (13-09.75), which currently ranks second in the Mountain West Conference. Just behind Clark in sixth was freshman Rachel Brooke Fisher, who vaulted an outdoor best 4.11m (13-05.75), a height that ranks fourth in the MWC.
Porshe Giddings, Amy Otis, Mindy Robins and Mindy McClurkin combined their abilities to run well in the 4x200m relay, posting a time of 1:37.41 and finishing seventh.
Senior Mindy McClurkin, who finished second in the long jump Friday at 6.43m, scratched her finals appearance in the 100-meter dash after qualifying in a MWC-best 11.60 yesterday.
The short second day of competition was a success for the Cougars and they now look on to two meets next weekend, the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah and the Sun Angel Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.
