ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Oct. 1, 2010) - Day one of the William H. Tucker Invitational ended with the BYU men’s golf team in fifth place and two BYU golfers in the top ten.
Sophomore Zac Blair shot rounds of 71 and 72, recording four birdies to finish the first two rounds tied for fifth overall. Cameron Edens, an Arizona State transfer, came back from a 3-over first round to shoot a 2-under 70 in round two and move into a tie for ninth place.
“Zac (Blair) was clutch for us again today,” said BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank. “The course was playing long and tough today, but Zac and Cameron (Edens) played it well.”
In the first round, sophomore Adam Tebbs shot a 1-over 73 and followed that with a 75 in round two to tie for 23rd place. Senior Esteban Calisto battled back after a first-round 79 to get out of some difficult situations in round two and shoot a 73.
“Esteban (Calisto) is battling hard,” Brockbank said. “He had a great round two for how he shot in round one. He is working hard.”
The final day of the William H. Tucker Invitational concludes Saturday, with one, 18-hole round scheduled to start at 7:45 a.m. MDT.
