AUBURN, Wash. -- Kelsey Vines and Annika Afoa led the BYU women's golf team into a tie for 11th place Friday after the second round of the NCAA West Regional in Auburn, Washington.
Amidst cold and wet conditions, Vines and Afoa shot second rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) respectively to move into a tie for 37th place. The Cougars hope to improve in day three to be one the top eight teams that moves on to the NCAA Championships.
"It was cold today, but we hung in there and fought hard," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "We definitely have a chance to advance, but we need to come out strong again tomorrow."
Jade Bollinger and Emily Copier sit tied for 64th and 73 respectively after second round totals of 80 (+8) and 79 (+5). Maggie Yuan improved on a first-day 81 with a 7-over 79 on day two and remains tied for 94th overall.
