POCATELLO, Idaho - The BYU women's soccer team (2-1-1) bounced back after a tough loss at home with a big 3-1 victory on the road against Idaho State, Tuesday.

UNLV transfer Colette Jepson led the Cougar offense with two goals. The goals were her first in BYU blue and of her career. Senior Jennie Marshall also tallied her first goal of the season and 12th in her career.

Marshall got things started early for BYU after a leading pass from Dana Oldroyd set her up perfectly for a shot about 20 yards out to put the Cougars on the board first. Not to be outdone, however, Allyssa Kenney hit a shot 13 minutes later to even the score.

With just 40 seconds left before halftime, Jepson got the Cougars their gamewinner with a pass from Carlee Payne and a shot 15 yards out.

"I think it says a lot about our offensive potential to have so many goal scorers," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "Certainly, though, Colette had a great game today. We had some really great looks early on and it was fantastic that Jennie got the ball rolling for us. This is a big win on the road."

To further secure the victory, Jepson found the back of the net again in the second half after a jumble in front of the net. The ball bounced around between a few Bengals and Cougars before Jepson got a hold of it and put it away.

Forward Amanda Ellsworth led Idaho State with five of the team's 17 shots.

Jepson led the Cougars on four shots with Auna Doria, Lindsi Lisonbee, Jessica Ringwood and Jaiden Thornock each contributing three for a team total of 22. Goalie McKinzie Olson played the full game and made five saves.

Up next for BYU is a home game against Cal State Fullerton on Friday, September 2, at 7 p.m. MT.
