PROVO, Utah – Tyler Haws moved up to 10th place on BYU’s all-time scoring list with a 38-point performance to lead the BYU men’s basketball team to an 88-78 victory over Pacific on Thursday.
“I thought it was a hard fought game," BYU basketball coach Dave Rose said. "I thought our execution was good at times and our energy was good the whole game. You look at the stats and we had 17 offensive rebounds and 10 steals, and that tells you that our guys are active, involved and playing with good energy and urgency.”
Haws shot 4 of 5 from beyond the arc and 10 of 11 from the free-throw line for his 38 points, the most he has scored in the Marriott Center as a Cougar. Eric Mika tied a career-high with 20 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and a career-high three steals. After a Pacific jumper, Haws got a block, which led to another Halford 3-pointer for a 36-28 lead.
