PROVO, Utah – BYU head coach Shawn Olmstead released the 2017 men’s volleyball schedule Wednesday, getting set for another season of national powerhouse competition.

"We look forward to the 2017 men's volleyball season," Olmstead said. "We've created a nonconference schedule that will challenge and prepare us for another demanding year of play in the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation)."

Nine of the Cougars’ 2017 opponents finished the 2016 season ranked in the final AVCA Coaches’ Poll, with two playing in the six-team berth NCAA tournament.

BYU begins the season on the road, traveling to Lewis and Loyola-Chicago on Jan. 6-7.

The Cougars then return to the Smith Fieldhouse for the home opener against McKendree on Jan. 12. BYU stays at home to face Concordia Irvine on Jan. 13 before playing McKendree again on Jan. 14.

MPSF play then begins from Jan. 19-20 on the road at CSUN.

That’s followed with two-straight weeks of home matches, first against UC Irvine from Jan. 27-28 and then UCLA from Feb. 3-4.

The Cougars will follow that with a match against USC in Los Angeles on Feb. 10. UC San Diego then heads to Provo to play BYU from Feb. 17-18.

Road matches ensue at Stanford from Feb. 23-24 before the Cougars face Cal Baptist in a lone match on Mar. 3.

BYU then travels to Pepperdine from March 10-11 before a five-match home stretch, starting with Hawai’i from March 17-18. Princeton will travel to Provo on March 21 before the Cougars finish out the week with a pair of matches against Long Beach State from March 24-25.

BYU will conclude the regular season on the road with conference matches at UC Santa Barbara from April 6-7.

The MPSF Tournament, with locations and times yet-to-be-determined, will be played beginning the following week.
