RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. — BYU women’s golf placed second at the SDSU March Mayhem match-play tournament on Tuesday.

The No. 31 Cougars defeated West Coast Conference foe Pepperdine in the morning semifinals to advance to the afternoon final against No. 2 USC, where the Cougars fell to the Trojans.

“I am super proud of how the girls played all week,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We stayed composed and just stuck to our game plan. It was a hard fought battle with USC, and every one of our matches went to the end, which shows a lot about our team. It was such a fun week competing in match play.”

The Cougars topped the Waves in the semifinals 3&2. Brooklyn Hocker, Rose Huang and Alexandra White all won their morning matches.

With the win against Pepperdine, BYU played in the championship match against No. 2 USC. The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday morning, but due to precipitation in the forecast, teams played their final matches on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars will continue their spring season as they participate in the Dale McNamara Invitational on April 10-11.
