Four recruits sign with BYU softball for 2020

PROVO, Utah – BYU head coach Gordon Eakin announced the class of 2020 recruits for the BYU softball team on Tuesday.

“We are very excited for our 2020 recruiting class,” Eakin said. “They will continue to bring strength to our program both on and off the field.”

Taryn Lennon (P/OF), Natalie Sicairos (C), Lauren "Lolo" Salcedo (P) and Violet Zavodnik (OF) have all signed National Letters of Intent to play for BYU and will join the team for the fall of 2020.

Coach Eakin on Taryn Lennon: Taryn is a very versatile player. She will add great strength to our pitching staff and to our outfield. She is a very athletic player and will not only be a strength defensively and on the mound, but Taryn can hit. Taryn will make an immediate impact for our team.

Natalie Sicairos

C | Diamond Ranch HS | Pomona, CA

Travel Team: California Cruisers Sievers

Accomplishments:

  • First Team All-League
  • First Team All-Area Catcher
  • Coach’s award
  • Team captain all four years of high school
  • CIF Champion in basketball  

Coach Eakin on Natalie Sicairos: Natalie is a very solid catcher; she has the ability behind the plate to make our pitching staff better. She is a leader on the field and has a cannon for an arm. Natalie is a very hard worker and a determined player. We are very excited to have Natalie join our team.

Lauren “Lolo” Salcedo

LHP | Valencia HS | Anaheim, CA

Travel Team: Corona Angels

Accomplishments:

  • Four-year letter winner in softball
  • Distinguished Scholar & Honor Roll all four years of high school
  • 2016 Second Team All-League
  • 2017 First Team All-League
  • 2018 First Team All-League
  • Named MVP of her team in 2018
  • Also played volleyball

Coach Eakin on Lauren Salcedo: Lauren will add a much-needed left-handed arm to our pitching staff. She has very good ball movement that will allow us to give opposing hitters a different look. She has played at the highest level of travel ball and has experience in how to handle the pressures of the game. We look forward to Lauren joining our team.

Violet Zavodnik

Travel Team: Brashear Firecrackers 18 Gold

Accomplishments:

  • CIF champion of character
  • Three-time Female Athlete of the Year
  • Three-time scholar athlete
  • Lettered in track and baseball
  • Three-time honor roll honoree

Coach Eakin on Violet Zavodnik: Violet will make an immediate impact for our team. She is an excellent outfielder and can flat out hit. As a left-handed hitter she hits for average and power. Violet also has great speed and athleticism. She is a game-changer and is a very solid addition to our program. We look forward to great things from Violet.
