PROVO, Utah — Zac Larke, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, has joined the 2020-21 BYU men’s tennis team.
“We are thrilled to have Zac join our program,” BYU head coach Dave Porter said. “He comes from a great tennis family in Australia. He’s fit, has a great attitude and we are looking forward to having him make a great contribution to our tennis program.”
Larke prepped at St. Peters Lutheran College where he was the school and region's top player. He ranked second best in Queensland after winning multiple tournaments. Larke ranked top seven in Australia for his age group. He was second best in schoolboy nationals while competing on the top team.
Larke placed third at the Pizzey Cup and was named to the 2019 School Sport Australia All-Australian Boys Team. In 2019 he was the Rocky Open Men’s Singles champion and advanced to the Championship match at the FNQ Open Age Tennis Tournament.
The incoming 2020-21 BYU men’s tennis recruiting class was ranked No. 23 by the Tennis Recruiting Network. Redd Owen, from Sandy Utah, Dominik Jakovljevic, from Bellevue, Washington and Alex Lin from Gold River, California are part of the top 25 ranked freshman class.
