PROVO, Utah — The game time has been set for the 2022 BYU vs. Notre Dame matchup in Las Vegas on Oct. 8. The Cougars will face the Irish at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. The game will be televised nationally on NBC.
BYU will be playing its second game in the recently minted stadium after opening the 2021 season with a win over Arizona in the NFL venue. The Cougars will be facing Notre Dame for the ninth time since the first outing in 1992 and the first at a neutral site. The last outing was a 23-13 Irish win in South Bend in 2013.
The Cougars, coming off a back-to-back top-20 seasons under Kalani Sitake, and the Fighting Irish, a top-10 team in 2021 now under the direction of new Irish head coach Marcus Freeman, will be featured nationally on NBC in its primetime slot for this Shamrock Series contest.
Notre Dame finished 11-2 last year to rank No. 8 in the nation as one of five programs on BYU's 2022 schedule to earn final top-25 rankings this past season. Coming off a 10-3 season and No. 19 final ranking, BYU embarks on it’s final schedule as an independent in 2022 before joining the Big 12 Conference in 2023. The 12-game slate appropriately boasts a truly national balance of teams from 11 different states and six different conferences as well as fellow independents Notre Dame and Liberty.
