PROVO, Utah — The Cougars head back to South Field to play their long-time rival, the Utah Utes as the last non-conference game of the 2022 season on Saturday night.

GAME NOTES

Saturday’s matchup has been scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT. The game will be carried live on BYURadio.org/BYU Radio app/BYU Radio 107.9 FM. The game will also be streamed on BYUtv and the BYUtv App. 

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. BYU last played up-state rival Utah State in Logan, Utah on Thursday afternoon. A goal by Brecken Mozingo in the 19th minute put the Cougars in the lead 1-0 until the Aggies equalized off a long ball sent into the box in the 83rd minute of the match. Despite BYU’s best efforts in finding the net in the last few minutes, the game ended in a 1-1 draw on Chuck and Gloria Bell soccer field.

  • BYU is currently ranked No. 25 nationally under head coach Jennifer Rockwood
  • After six non-conference games, BYU is now 3-2-3 on the season

Head Coach - Hideki Nakada

  • Before coaching at Utah, Nakada coached at Stanford. During his seven seasons there, his team compiled a remarkable 132-15-10 overall record, with a dominating 66-6-4 mark in the Conference of Champions that included four College Cup appearances.

COUGARS VS. UTES. The Cougars and the Utes have played 35 times previously, with BYU leading the series 24-8-3. The last time the two teams met was Sept. 9, 2021, when the Cougars and the Utes tied 1-1 on Ute Field in Salt Lake City.
