PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s golf released the schedule for the program’s 51st season and its final year as a member of the West Coast Conference on Wednesday.
Just four months removed from their second-straight trip to an NCAA Regional, a senior-laden Cougar team, along with two new additions, look to not only return to a regional, but also qualify for the NCAA Championship for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.
BYU finished the 2021 season as the 41st ranked team in college golf and returns all three WCC All-Conference honorees.
Seniors Allysha Mae Mateo, Annick Haczkiewicz and Kerstin Fotu will be joined by junior Lila Galeai as they lead the Cougars into their final bid for a fourth West Coast Conference crown.
Sophomores Adeline Anderson and Alexa Udom along with freshmen Berlin Long and Sunbin Seo complete the 2022-23 roster for head coach Carrie Roberts, who is entering her 13th year at the helm of the program.
The Cougars will compete in 11 events as they gear up for the WCC Championship, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championship next spring.
Roberts and her squad will first travel to San Francisco on Sept. 12-13 for the USF Intercollegiate hosted at the Olympic Club, the site of last year’s U.S. Women’s Open.
On Sept. 19-20, the Cougars look to defend their 2021 title at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville, Tennessee.
After two weeks off, BYU will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Oct. 10-11 for the Dale McNamara Invitational before teeing it up at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, hosted by the Kansas Jayhawks on Oct. 17-18. BYU will conclude its fall season with a trip to Miami for the Hurricane Invitational from Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
The Cougars will be back in action on Feb. 6-7 at the FAU Paradise Invitational in Kiawah Island, South Carolina before finding more sunshine at the Lamkin Invitational hosted by San Diego State on Feb. 13-14.
The west-coast swing will continue as BYU visits Sacramento on Feb 27-28 for the Gunrock Invitational hosted by UC Davis, before going to the San Jose State Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational, Mar. 6-7.
The Cougars will then tee it up in the Aloha State at the Avenue Spring Break Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i, before returning home to host the BYU Intercollegiate, for the first time at Riverside Country Club, on Apr. 10-11.
The WCC Championship is slated for Apr. 20-22 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington, before the NCAA Regionals on May 8-10 and the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club, May 19-24.
