TEMPE, Ariz — The NCAA Division I Women’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point were released Wednesday. Emilee Astle and Bobo Huang were ranked 47th in the country, upon completion of the fall season.

Astle and Huang were a dominant pairing throughout the fall campaign officially winning six matches together and losing just two.

“It’s really exciting to have a doubles team ranked in the top 50," said head coach Holly Hasler. "The accomplishment is well deserved as these two have put in many hours of hard work. It’s always fun to see the chemistry really click with a doubles duo and these two have just hit it off. They are determined and focused to be the best, and I love that."

The tandem was the first BYU doubles team to make an appearance at the fall championships since 2006, and is the first Cougar pairing to be ranked nationally since Anastasia Abramyan and Mayci Jones in the 2017-18 season. They were ranked as high as 38th.

"This is a great stepping stone for both to set additional goals to improve," Hasler continued. "Bobo’s reply when she heard the news was, 'so what’s next, how do we move up even higher?' We are definitely looking forward to the spring season to see what else this team can do together."

The two will look to carry their momentum into the spring season that will begin on Jan. 21 when BYU will compete in its Blue vs. White Match.
