LOGAN, Utah - Three BYU gymnasts earned Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference accolades, the organization announced Monday. Sydney Benson and Anna Bramblett earned their first honors of the season, while senior Elease Rollins earned her third.
BYU last competed on Friday, Feb. 10 against No. 21 Southern Utah in the Marriott Center. Despite several new career highs, the Cougars fell to the Thunderbirds 197.125-196.150. The Cougars had their highest team bar score of the season with a 49.225 and their highest floor score of the year posting a 49.350.
Benson scored a 9.900 on the vault to earn the Vault Specialist of the Week accolade. This score was Benson’s season high and tied her career-high on the apparatus. Benson also posted a 9.850 on floor against the Thunderbirds.
For the first time of her career, Bramblett earned Co-Bars Specialist of the Week with a score of 9.950. Along with Boise State’s Emily Lopez, Bramblett earned the MRGC honors after notching her new career high on the uneven bars.
Rollins notched her season-high score of 9.950 on the beam apparatus to earn her Beam Specialist of the Week honors for the third time this season. She also notched a 9.850 on floor to assist in BYU’s highest team floor score of the 2023 season.
