KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four BYU softball student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced today.
Pitcher Chloe Temples, outfielder Lauren Flanders, second baseman Alyssa Podhurcak-Foss and outfielder Taryn Lennon all received the honor that recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances both on the field and in the classroom.
To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a starter or significant reserve in at least half of their team’s games during the 2023 season.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Those who are selected for first-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, June 6.
Temples, a microbiology major with a 3.99 GPA, has posted a 3.80 ERA with seven victories in 101.1 innings pitched this season. The senior from Marianna, Fla. has also tallied 106 strikeouts.
Hailing from Peachtree City, Ga., Flanders has posted a 3.85 GPA as a pre-computer science: animation program and games major. She has tallied four runs and four hits, with two RBI and a stolen base on the year.
Podhurcak-Foss is a global supply chain management graduate with a 3.71 GPA. Batting .232 on the season, the Torrance, Calif. product has played in 32 games and recorded 10 RBI, including two home runs.
A native of Beuna Park, Calif., Lennon has earned a 3.52 GPA as a communications major studying journalism and public relations. The junior has played in 31 games for the year, scoring 10 runs and tallying three RBI.
