VIENNA, Austria – 2011 Naismith Award Winner Jimmer Fredette helped the United States win the silver medal at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup on Sunday afternoon in Vienna, Austria.

Fredette led the 20-team tournament in scoring with 59 points (8.4/game) including a 13-point performance against Austria in the final game of pool play.

In Sunday’s finale against the World’s No. 1, Serbia, Fredette finished with a game-high 10 points but saw his game-winning shot go in-and-out as the Serbians won the title for the fifth time in the past six championships. Even in the loss, Fredette becomes the first former Cougar to medal at a FIBA World Cup since Kresimir Cosic in 1978.

Earlier in the day the quartet Fredette, Canyon Berry, Dylan Travis and Kareem Maddox led the United States to their third championship appearance since the competition began in 2012 with a 21-17 victory over Brazil in the semifinals.
