Galeai takes home the Utah Women’s Open Trophy

BYU golfer Lila Galeai won the Siegfried & Jensen Utah Women’s Open at Timpanogos Golf Club’s Champion Course on Tuesday.

PROVO, Utah – BYU golfer Lila Galeai won the Siegfried & Jensen Utah Women’s Open at Timpanogos Golf Club’s Champion Course on Tuesday. 

Galeai carded a two-under par 70 on Monday, which included six birdies, to sit in second after 18 holes. On Tuesday, the rising senior made three birdies down the stretch to help her take home the title. 

Lea Garner, assistant coach for the Cougars, was the low professional after carding rounds of 72-69-141 to finish three-under par in second place. 

Finishing close behind Garner was Allysha Mae Mateo, a recent graduate of BYU and former Cougar. Mateo finished one-under par at the conclusion of the two-day tournament. 

Other Cougars that participated in the tournament include Whitney Banz and Sunbin Seo. Banz ended play at two-over par with rounds of 70 and 76 to take eighth place and secure the top 10 finish. Seo finished tied for 16th (73-78–151; +7). 

Other alums that teed it up included Kerstin Ngakuru and Emily Copier-Jones. Ngakuru tied for sixth (73-72–145; +1), and Copier-Jones tied for 35th (86-77–163; +19)
