No. 6 BYU women’s soccer returns to the comfy confines of South Field for a Thursday evening matchup against Cincinnati.

PROVO, Utah — No. 6 BYU women’s soccer (9-1-1, 2-0-1 Big 12) returns to the comfy confines of South Field for a Thursday evening matchup against Cincinnati.

Thursday’s matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT. The game will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

BYU vs. Cincinnati

IN THE RANKINGS. After recording two conference wins against Baylor and No. 14 Texas last week, the Cougars came in at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

STANDOUT PLAYERS 

  • Sophomore forward Erin Bailey leads the Cougars in goals with seven

THE COUGARS. BYU last played at Texas Monday night, besting the Longhorns 3-2. After an early first-half deficit, the Cougars came from behind to beat Texas at the Mike A. Myers Stadium for the first time in program history. The all-time series with Texas is now tied at 3-3. BYU’s goals came from Ellie Walbruch, Wade-Katoa and Bailey, who scored the game-winning goal in the final seven minutes of the match. Petersen, Olivia Smith-Griffitts, Brecken Mozingo and Tara Warner each tallied assists on the night. The Cougars outshot the Longhorns 23-14, forcing Texas’ goalkeeper to make a season-high nine saves.

THE BEARCATS. Cincinnati (2-5-3) last hosted Iowa State on Sunday, Sept. 24 for a matinee showdown, blanking the Cyclones 1-0 to earn the program’s first Big 12 victory. The lone goal of the match came from a successful penalty kick in the 26th minute by senior forward Ellie Flower. Cincinnati’s top goal-scorer so far this season is Megan Smith with three goals, followed by Laura Zemberyova with two.

COUGARS VS. BEARCATS. The Cougars and Bearcats will meet on the pitch for the first time in program history on Thursday evening. Both teams are in their first season as members of the Big 12 Conference.
