IRVING, Texas — BYU women's volleyball middle blocker Mia Lee was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.

Lee led BYU with 16 total blocks this past weekend, averaging two per set. She finished with a game- and career-high 11 in the Cougars' first of two wins over Texas Tech, tied for the second-most by a freshman in the rally scoring era at BYU.

The Vineyard, Utah native totaled 11 kills on a .250 clip for the week, also recording one assist and a dig between the Cougars’ two matches. Lee posted seven kills in game one against the Red Raiders, tying a career high.

This is Lee’s second league honor of the year and BYU’s fifth weekly award of the season. Outside hitter Erin Livingston has been named Offensive Player of the Week twice, and fellow middle blocker Whitney McEwan-Llarenas was named Defensive Player of the Week once.

The 9th-ranked Cougars continue Big 12 play with two matches at home against Iowa State this week.
