PROVO, Utah — BYU gymnastics will participate in the fifth annual Rio Tinto Best of Utah NCAA Gymnastics Meet on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 at the Maverik Center in West Valley. The podium event features BYU, SUU, Utah State and the University of Utah.
BYU finished the 2023 season ranked No. 33 in the nation and earned two Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference awards in its final season with the conference. Senior beam queen Elease Rollins earned MRGC Beam Specialist of the Year and freshman powerhouse Kylie Eaquinto earned MRGC Freshman of the Year honors. The 2023 team finished the season with a 195.802 average.
The Rio Tinto Best of Utah event will begin at 4 p.m. MT in West Valley City. There will be a presale of school-specific tickets. The presale includes $5 off the ticket price, no online convenience fees, and parking for the event. The university presale offer will run Monday, Oct. 23, through Thursday, Oct. 26 at 10 p.m. MT. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. MT.

RIO TINTO BEST OF UTAH
Utah has won the past four competitions at the Maverik Center against its in-state competition. The Red Rocks finished third at the 2023 NCAA Championships for the third year in a row. Maile O’Keefe, a fifth year senior, won the NCAA All-Around and Beam titles last season. She is the first Red Rock since 1999 to win the national all-around title. Southern Utah finished the 2023 season ranked 21st in the nation. The Thunderbirds placed third in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional after finishing ahead of #12 Auburn in the second round. BYU reached the first round of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional last season. BYU returns back-to-back MRGC beam specialist of the year Elease Rollins, who ranked 28th in the nation on beam last season. Utah State returns top all-arounder Brianna Brooks from last season, and has added Arizona State transfer Juliette Boyer, who was a 2020 All-Pac-12 honorable mention all-arounder.
