IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 announced today the BYU at TCU football game on Saturday, Oct. 14, will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and be broadcast live on ESPN from Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
Following a bye week during week six of the season, BYU returns to action in a Big 12 matchup with the national title runner-up Horned Frogs.
The former Western Athletic Conference and Mountain West Conference foes will meet for the 12th time, with TCU holding a 6-5 edge in the series. The two schools first met in 1987 in Fort Worth, with the last meeting in 2011 at Cowboys Stadium (AT&T Stadium), home of the Dallas Cowboys.
The 2011 match up came in week nine of the Cougars first year as an independent, while the Horned Frogs were in their final year in the MW before joining the Big 12. The Cougars last visited Amon G. Carter Stadium in 2010. A major stadium renovation completed in 2012 will provide a new game-day experience for BYU fans traveling to TCU for the game.
In his first year as the head coach of TCU in 2022, Sonny Dykes led the Horned Frogs to the College Football Playoff, defeating Michigan 51-45 in the Fiesta Bowl before falling to Georgia in the College Football National Championship, 65-7. TCU finished the year 13-2 overall and 9-0 in Big 12 play.
The Horned Frogs are 3-2 in 2023 (2-2 at home) and 1-1 in Big 12 play with a win over Houston (36-13) and loss to West Virginia (24-21).
The Cougars are 4-1 in 2023 and 1-1 in conference play. BYU is also 1-1 in road games with a win at Arkansas (38-31) and a loss to Kansas (38-27). The Cougars are coached by Kalani Sitake, who is 60-35 since taking over the BYU football program in 2016.
