IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference announced its 2023-24 All-Conference Team on Wednesday afternoon with Lauren Gustin being named an honorable mention.

“Lauren has become the rock for this team,” said BYU head coach Amber Whiting. “She is the type of leader every team needs both because of what she says and, more importantly, through the example she sets for the other women. I am so grateful for Lauren, for all she’s done for this team and I am excited to watch her lead us into this new era of BYU women’s basketball.”

Gustin, who returns to BYU for her final year of eligibility, led all NCAA divisions, men’s or women’s, by grabbing 16.7 rebounds per contest a season ago. Her 552 total rebounds broke the BYU record for rebounds in a season, passing BYU Hall of Famer and 1980 National Player of the Year Tina Gunn.

The senior joined Gunn as the second player in Cougar history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career, sitting at 1,115 points and 1,190 rebounds entering the 2023-24 campaign.

Gustin also recorded 27 double-doubles during her junior season, the second most in the country and matching Gunn’s record of 27 double-doubles during the 1979-80 season in which she was named the National Player of the Year.
