“It was a phenomenal day,” said BYU head swimming coach Shari Skabelund. “Jordan [Tiffany], Brad [Prolo] and the men’s 400 medley relay reached NCAA provisional time standards. The team’s having a lot of fun and swimming fast.”

Tiffany continued his early season dominance in the 100 fly by breaking his own school record twice in one day. The junior from Pleasant Grove, Utah finished the night cutting 0.45 seconds off his preliminary time to win the 100 fly final at 44.85. With his performance on Wednesday, Tiffany surpasses No. 1 Arizona State’s Ilya Kharun for No. 3 nationally in the event.

Tiffany finished the night with a school-record 45.24 in the 100 back to lead off the men’s 400 medley relay. At 45.24, Tiffany overtakes Jake Taylor’s previous record of 45.34 set in 2015 and stands at third nationally over Bradley Dunham of No. 9 Georgia. Tiffany’s strong start to the relay sparked a school record squad performance from Brad Prolo, Tanner Edwards and Luigi Riva. Together, the foursome finished in 3:06.70, earning 40 points for the Cougar cause and beating TCU by over two seconds.

Prolo added yet another broken school record to the night’s checklist as he smashed his own 200 fly record in the time trials at 1:42.18.

Riva matched Tiffany with 20 points as he won the men’s 50 free final in a personal-best 19.59. The junior from Milan, Italy cut 0.67 seconds off his preliminary time and now stands at fifth all-time at BYU over Javier Nicolas Matta (2022). Riva’s 50 free time is also good for 13th nationally ahead of UNLV’s Bryson Huey.

Barragan and Anderson finished third (16 points) and fourth (15 points), respectively, in the 500 free final. Anderson now ranks No. 8 at BYU having surpassed Stott Bushnell (2009). Camacho Salgado posted 15 points in a fourth-place finish in the 50 free at 20.11.

Tony Puertas, Tanner Edwards, Tama Tuitama and Joshua Reed rounded out the Cougars’ double-figure scoring at the Mizzou Aquatic Center on Wednesday.
