PROVO, Utah — Two more school records came down as BYU men’s swimming moved into its second day of competition at the Mizzou Invitational in Columbia, Missouri on Thursday.

“The swimmers dug deep today to continue the momentum they started yesterday,” said BYU head swimming coach Shari Skabelund. “This was another amazing day with more school records and personal bests. Our kids are tired, but they keep finding a way to get better.”

Jordan Tiffany broke yet another individual school record on Thursday after snapping two on Wednesday. Tiffany led off in the men’s 200 medley relay and clocked 21.20 in the 50 back to upend Jake Taylor’s previous record of 21.44 set in 2016. The junior from Pleasant Grove, Utah is now tied for No. 5 nationally in the 50 back with Quintin McCarty of NC State.

Brad Prolo, Tanner Edwards and Luigi Riva then built on Tiffany’s success for a 200 MR school-record of 1:24.49, an improvement of 3.39 seconds off the squad’s entry time. The Cougars won over host Missouri by 0.26 seconds and are now tied for third nationally with Auburn. Prolo was also a part of the previous record-breaking squad from a season ago.

Tiffany earned his second individual win of the meet as he beat out Grant Bochenski of Missouri with a 45.42 finish in the 100 back. Diego Camacho Salgado, Edwards and Jack Burke joined Tiffany in the top-10 of the event with Edwards and Burke working their way onto the program’s 100 back top-10 board.

A total of 16 personal bests were set across the men’s team during competition on Thursday. Freshman Joshua Reed impressed in the 200 free as he initially set a personal best in the individual final before shaving off another 0.19 seconds to go 1:36.56 in the 800 free relay leadoff.

Men's diving began its competition weekend at the SMU Invite at Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas, Texas on Thursday. Mickey Strauss took the top spot for the Cougars in the 3-meter final with a fifth-place finish at 314.10.

The Cougars will compete in their third and final day of competition from the Mizzou Aquatics Center beginning Friday at 9:30 a.m. CST.

Diving will resume in Dallas on Friday at 1 p.m. CST.
