PROVO, Utah – No. 6 BYU women’s soccer will host Michigan State in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening.

The Cougars earned a No. 1 seed, while Michigan State earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Saturday’s matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT. 

The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

THE COUGARS. BYU last competed against USC in the second round of the NCAA tournament Thursday evening, besting the Trojans 1-0, courtesy of a Folino goal in the 58th minute. Folino’s goal was assisted by Petersen and Mozingo, knocking the ball from the left-side of the pitch to the right before finding Folino in the center of the 18-yard box to punch the ball into the back of the net. For the third year in a row, the Cougars have advanced to the Sweet 16 in the tournament.

THE SPARTANS. Michigan State last competed against Harvard Thursday evening on South Field, besting the Crimson 1-0, courtesy of a successful penalty kick by Justina Gaynor in the 50th minute. For the first time in program history, the Spartans advanced to the third round of the tournament.

COUGARS VS. SPARTANS. The Cougars and the Spartans have competed four times previously, with BYU leading the overall series 4-0, 2-0 on South Field. The Cougars beat the Spartans most recently in 2008, blanking them 2-0, with goals by Andrea Willis and Jennie Marshall.
