BYU Notes (3-0, 0-0 Big 12)

  • Defense + Scoring = Wins: The Cougar defense has held its first two opponents to 51 points per game. During the 2022-23 season, Whiting’s squad notched a 14-4 record when holding teams under the 60-point threshold.
  • Freshman Phenoms: Amari Whiting and Kailey Woolston came to BYU as high school stars and have picked up right where they left off. The freshmen average 29 points per game, 12 rebounds and five assists through three games.
  • First time for everything: Saturday's afternoon matchup between the Cougars and Demon Deacons will mark the first time the two teams have shared the hardwood on the women's side.
  • Coach Whiting on the trip to Hawai'i: “It’s a business trip. We have two good games and we are 3-0 right now so I want to come home 5-0. That is my main goal. It is a beautiful place that we are going to but I told the girls in the locker room to take the day to recover, but this is a business trip.”

Head Coach – Amber Whiting
