BYU ranked 19th in AP Poll

BYU men’s basketball is back in the AP Top 25 for the first time since December 6, 2021 as the Cougars are ranked 19th following their 6-0 start to the season and Vegas Showdown championship.

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball is back in the AP Top 25 for the first time since December 6, 2021 as the Cougars are ranked 19th following their 6-0 start to the season and Vegas Showdown championship. They are also ranked 19th in this week’s USA Today’s Coaches poll.

Today marks the 139th time in program history that the Cougars have been ranked in the AP Top 25 and 10th time under head coach Mark Pope. BYU has now been ranked in the Top 25 in four of Pope’s five season in Provo.

BYU is 199-73 as a ranked team, including a 7-3 record under the direction of Pope. The Cougars are 16-3 all-time ranked 19th, including a perfect 10-0 record at home.

The Cougars one of six Big 12 schools in the Top 25, joining No. 5 Kansas, No. 6 Houston, No. 9 Baylor, No. 16 Texas and No. 25 Oklahoma. Purdue moved into first after winning the Maui Invitational, just ahead of Arizona, Marquette and UConn.

BYU returns to the Beehive State this week when the Cougars host Fresno State at the Delta Center on Friday, Dec. 1, on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
