PROVO, Utah – BYU head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope has announced the signing of Brooks Bahr to a National Letter of Intent.
“Brooks Bahr is a combination of Payton Pritchard and Chauncey Billups. He is an explosive, physical, skilled guard who is capable as play maker, a scorer and a hard-nosed defender” Pope said. “The most impressive thing about Brooks is that his IQ is beyond elite. He studies the game, he is curious about the game and he can’t get enough of the game.”
Bahr, 6-foot-4 guard, signs with the Cougars out of Keller, Texas where he is rated as a three-start recruit by 247Sports and the 132nd ranked player in the nation in the Class of 2024.
“I believe BYU can develop me and get me to where I want to go,” Bahr told On3. “I built some great relationships with the entire coaching staff, and value how much they believe in me. The style of play fits my game and what I bring to the table. I’m a point guard and playmaker that can create for others but also score at a high level.”
As a junior he was named the District Offensive Most Valuable Player after averaging 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game. The left-handed guard, who has been playing varsity since his freshman season and led the Indians to a pair of district titles, also shot 56 percent from the floor and 38 percent from 3-point range.
