Jaxson Robinson named Big 12 Student-Athlete of the Month

BYU men’s basketball’s Jaxson Robinson was named one of the Big 12 Student-Athletes of the Month for December on Friday morning.

IRVING, Texas – BYU men’s basketball’s Jaxson Robinson was named one of the Big 12 Student-Athletes of the Month for December on Friday morning.

The senior guard was one of 13 student-athletes rewarded for excelling at their sport but also demonstrating leadership, perseverance and strong commitments to academics and community service.

The native of Ada, Oklahoma is the leading scorer for a Cougars squad that is 11-1 overall heading into their final non-conference game and is ranked No. 14 in the AP Poll. He has come off the bench in all 11 appearances this season leading a second unit that ranks third in the nation in bench points per game (40.5).

Robinson averages 16.5 points per game, shooting a league-best 43.4 percent from 3-point range. He also ranks 17th in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.3) and 32nd in 3-pointers made (36). In BYU’s win over Denver on Dec. 13, he went 8-of-16 from 3-point range en route to a career-high 28 points tying the program record for most 3-point makes by a reserve.
