IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference released its 2023-24 schedule on Tuesday morning, announcing the dates of the Cougars' inaugural 18-game conference schedule. The announcement finalizes the Cougars' 31-game regular season schedule that tips off Nov. 6 against Houston Christian in the Marriott Center.
BYU’s first Big 12 game will come against another newcomer to the league, Cincinnati, on Saturday, Jan. 6, in the friendly confines of the Marriott Center. It will mark the first meeting between the two programs in Provo and first meeting overall since the 2001 NCAA Tournament.
The Cougars hit the road for two straight, beginning with a trip to Waco, Texas to face off against Baylor on Jan. 9. They will play a true road game in the Eastern Time Zone for the first time since Nov. 15, 2017 on Jan. 13 when they take on UCF in Orlando, Fla.
They return home to Provo for three of their next four games beginning on Jan. 16 when they host Iowa State. A trip to West Texas to face Texas Tech on Jan. 20 is followed by consecutive homes games against Houston (Jan. 23) and Texas (Jan. 27). The Longhorns will be making their third trip to the Marriott Center and first since November 29, 1974.
BYU makes the trek to West Virginia on Feb. 3 for the first time since 1947 to face the Mountaineers at WVU Coliseum. They finish the road trip three days later against Oklahoma on Feb. 6.
They welcome Kansas State to Provo on Feb. 10 for the second time in program history and first since the two teams opened the Marriott Center on Dec. 3, 1971. UCF makes the return trip to BYU on Feb. 13 before the Cougars make a trip to Stillwater, Okla., for the first time since 1971 on Feb. 17.
A home game on Feb. 20 against Baylor is followed by two straight road games in the Sunflower State. They face K State on Feb. 24 before making the trip to Allen Fieldhouse for the first time since Dec. 20, 1960 to face Kansas on Feb. 27.
BYU will look to extend its win streak over TCU to 17 games when the Horned Frogs and Cougars faceoff in Provo on March 2. They hit the road one final time on March 6, making the return trip to ISU before hosting OSU on Senior Day on March 9.
The Big 12 Conference Tournament will take place on March 12-16 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
