PROVO, Utah – BYU Athletics is ranked No. 6 in the nation in the 2023 Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup Final Division I Fall Standings released on Thursday.

BYU finished in the Top-5 of the fall standings in the previous four years of competition. Two years ago, BYU was first in the fall standings for the first time in the history of the Directors' Cup.

The Directors' Cup annually ranks college athletic programs around the country by awarding points based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships. Preliminary standings are released following the fall and winter athletic seasons and lead up to the release of a final ranking following the spring season.

BYU’s No. 6 finish in the fall standings ranks the Cougars among some of the nation’s best collegiate athletic programs.

The Cougars’ fall sports combined to generate 279.50 points this year. Men's cross country recorded 85 points, the most points of any BYU fall sports, following a third-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Women's soccer also finished its season in third-place in the country, generating 83 points. Top-20 national finishes for women's cross country and women's volleyball received 61.5 and 50 points, respectively.

The winter Directors' Cup rankings will be released in April.
