BYU Gymnastics competes in fifth annual Best of Utah Meet

PROVO, Utah — No. 19 BYU women’s gymnastics heads back to the Maverik Center to compete in the fifth annual Best of Utah meet on Monday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. MT.

BYU will compete against No. 2 Utah, No. 17 SUU and No. 36 Utah State in West Valley City, Utah on Monday. 

Meet Information

THE COUGARS. The BYU women’s gymnastics team competed against Cal, Michigan State and NC State in the third session of the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Cougars notched a third-place finish with a final score of 196.100. Senior Allix Mason earned BYU’s MVP of the meet after earning a 9.850 on beam and a 9.825 on bars. Senior beam queen Elease Rollins earned a season-high and team-high 9.900 on the beam, while Sophie Dudley earned a new team-high floor score of 9.875. 

THE UTES. No. 2 Utah competed in the second session of the SFM Collegiate Quad against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 5 LSU and No. 12 UCLA on Saturday afternoon. Earning a final team score of 196.975, the Red Rocks took home a fourth-place finish. Utah’s MaKenna Smith was the top all-around finisher for the Red Rocks with a score of 39.450.

THE THUNDERBIRDS. No. 17 SUU opened its season at the Mean Girls Super 16 meet in Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Cougars and Thunderbirds met in the Saturday matinee session of the competition, with SUU taking the third-place finish with a final score of 196.025. 

THE AGGIES. No. 36 Utah State opened its season at the North Carolina Quad Meet against UNC, Ball State and Rutgers. The Aggies took home a fourth-place finish with a final score of 193.175. Senior Lexi Aragon earned a career-high beam score of 9.850 for the Aggies.
