Roskelley leads heptathlon as Cougars wrap up day one at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. - Jaden Roskelley led in the heptathlon as BYU multis, jumps and sprints wrapped up day one at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson. 

Men's Recap

Roskelley's first day of competition was highlighted by his 2-meter/6-6.75 personal-best clearance in the high jump. A freshman from Arlington Washington, Roskelley leads the heptathlon with 3,077 points going into day two of competition. Teammate Aaron Wood sits in second with 2,627 points. The men will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000m run tomorrow morning. 

Dallin Draper placed sixth in the men's 60m dash, running 6.81 in the finals following his 6.79 performance in the preliminary round. 

Hurdlers Logan Hubler and Riley Hunt placed 10th and 11th in the 60m hurdles, clocking 8.00 and 8.04, respectively. 

Juniors Josh Taylor and Eli Hazlett placed ninth and 11th running 47.23 and 47.62 in the 400m. Abram Schaap boasted a personal-best in the event as well, running 47.73 to place 13th.

Women's Recap

Rebekah Ross led the BYU women as she took second in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.15m/13-7.25. Ross currently ranks seventh in the country thanks to her 4.33m/14-2.5 clearance at the BYU December Invitational.

Jaslyn Gardner placed fourth in the 60m dash, clocking 7.36 to improve on her time of 7.42 in the preliminary round of competition. Teammate Dolita Shaw ran a personal-best time of 7.70.

Mayci Taylor placed fourth in the pentathlon scoring 3,800 points as Madelyn Eaton placed sixth with 3,430 points. Both athletes' competition was highlighted by personal-best times in the 800m as Taylor clocked 2:18.45 and Eaton 2:20.16.

Anna Hart ran 54.93 in the 400m, good for an eighth place finish. Hart is No. 9 all-time on BYU's indoor record boards with a time of 54.79 achieved last season. 

All-American high jumper Cierra Tidwell Allphin set a new personal best in the long jump, leaping 5.81m/19-0.75. Madeleine Passmore also set a new personal best in the long jumping as she recorded a 5.74m/18-10 jump. Tidwell Allphin and Passmore placed 14th and 18th in the competition.
