TUCSON, Arizona – The BYU men’s golf squad begins its 2023-24 spring campaign at the Arizona N.I.T., hosted by the University of Arizona, at OMNI Tucson National Golf Club on Monday, Jan. 29.
“The team is excited to get out of the snow and start playing some tournament golf,” head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “The N.I.T. has a strong field, we are looking forward to the challenge. Tucson National is a course with challenging par threes and a premium for hitting fairways. If you hit fairways, you’ll have plenty of chances to hit short irons into the greens. If we can hit quality wedge shots and make some putts, we’ll make plenty of birdies.”
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the prestigious Catalina course against 17 other programs.
“This team is not satisfied with their performance in the fall,” director of golf Todd Miller said. “They know they have more in the tank. They have worked hard during the off-season and competed in individual tournaments to prepare themselves to get some wins in the spring and improve our ranking.”
The Cougars were ranked number 52 in the recent NCAA Division I standings, and look to make a significant jump during the spring season.
