Mickey Strauss garnered recognition as Big 12 Men’s Diver of the Week on Jan. 24 following his sweep of the 1 and 3-meter diving competition at BYU’s Tri-Meet with Air Force and Colorado Mesa on Jan. 19-20 at the Richards Building Pool.
The Cougars boast five of the seven top-50 ranked divers who will compete at Cadet Natatorium. Following his performance in Provo two weeks ago, Strauss ranks 18th and 34th nationally in the 1 (352.89) and 3-meter (352.60), respectively. Chase Hindmarsh’s platform score of 291.95, set in November at the SMU Invite, continues to stand at No. 20 nationally. Russell Haws, Nathan Marshall and Cody Dreesen also hold top-50 rankings in platform.
Cal Baptist brings two ranked divers to the meet with Gael Jiminez-Mestes and Mario De Valle. Jiminez-Mestes ranks 11th in the 3-meter and 16th in the 1-meter with a season-best 3-meter score of 393.23. De Valle’s 22nd spot in the 1-meter comes with a score of 346.73.
