ATLANTA, Ga. — BYU forward Lauren Gustin was one of 15 players named to Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist on Wednesday.

The nation's leading rebounder has been a staple of the Cougar squad over the past four years, starting all 110 games she has appeared in since transferring to BYU for the 2020-21 season. Earlier this season, Gustin became BYU's all-time rebounding leader, breaking 1980 National Player of the Year Tina Gunn Robison's previous record of 1,482. Through 24 games, Gustin boasts 1,554 rebounds and counting.
The Atlanta Tipoff Club’s board of selectors, comprised of leading journalists from around the country, selected the winners, basing their selections on outstanding on-court defensive performances during the 2023-24 college basketball season.
