Cal defeats BYU in Berkeley

BYU baseball fell to Cal, 8-0, on Wednesday at Stu Gordon Stadium in the first of four road games in California this week.

BERKELEY, Calif. (Feb. 21) — BYU baseball fell to Cal, 8-0, on Wednesday at Stu Gordon Stadium in the first of four road games in California this week. 

Game Summary
Cal (3-1) jumped on top early, with three runs on three hits, including a home run in the bottom of the first inning for a 3-0 advantage. The Bears tacked on two more runs in the second for a 5-0 lead.

A three-run home run in the top of the seventh by Rodney King gave Cal an 8-0 win. 

The Cougars (1-3) had chances throughout the game but were unable to deliver key hits with runners in scoring position, stranding nine runners on the night.

BYU resumes play on Thursday with a three-game series at UC Davis. The Cougars and Aggies meet for just the fifth time and the first since a 2-1 BYU series win in 2010. BYU leads the all-time series 3-1 with all four games played at Dobbins Stadium.
