BYU finishes in 9th at Causeway Invitational, three in the top 25

BYU women’s golf finished the 52-hole Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club in 9th place, jumping two spots in the final round on Tuesday.

SACRAMENTO, California – BYU women’s golf finished the 52-hole Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club in 9th place, jumping two spots in the final round on Tuesday. 

“The course was tough, and we didn’t handle the situation very well,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “It got tougher as we went, and we battled back in the final round, but we need to just keep getting better.”

Despite the challenging conditions, three Cougars were able to secure top-25 finishes. Senior Lila Galeai finished in 19th at 10-over-par with rounds of 75-76-75–226. Alexa Udom (75-75-77– 227) and Berlin Long (74-72-81–227), who competed as individuals, finished in a tie for 23rd at 11-over. 

Sunbin Seo (75-81-76–232; +16), María José Barragán (76-81-76–233; +17), and Lilly McCauley (79-78-85–242; +26) rounded out the Cougar squad. 

The Cougars will tee it up next week at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Intercollegiate, played in Fairfax, California, at the Meadow Club, Mar. 4-5.
