Gustin named to 2023-24 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and All-America Watchlist

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lauren Gustin was named to the 2023-24 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and All-America Watchlist by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday afternoon.

The senior leads BYU in scoring at 17.1 points per game, having scored 20 or more points in six of her last nine games. The two-time Big 12 Player of the Week also leads the Cougars and the nation in rebounds with 15.3 per contest, double-doubles with 27 in 29 games, total rebounds (444) and defensive rebounds per game (10.3) while ranking third in offensive rebounds per game (5.0).

Gustin is BYU's all-time rebounding leader with 1,634 boards, which is also the fifth-most in the history of NCAA Division I women's basketball.  During her career in Provo, she is a three-time all-conference honoree, was named the 2023 WCC Defensive Player of the Year and an AP All-American in 2021. 

The 40 honored players for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and All-America consideration will be placed on the association's annual awards ballot, which will be distributed to members today. Members of the USBWA will then vote on the associated candidates with the 15-woman All-America Team, Freshman Player of the Year and National Coach of the Year announced before the start of the women’s NCAA Tournament.

The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is named after the legendary UCLA guard and is given annually to the women's national player of the year by the USBWA.
