PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s volleyball head coach Heather Olmstead has announced the hiring of Daniel Jones as assistant coach today.

“I am excited to welcome Daniel and his family to BYU and our volleyball program," Olmstead said. "He brings a lot of knowledge and experience with him from his time as an assistant coach and head coach at the Division I level. Daniel understands our culture, is a great communicator, teacher and will work to help develop our student-athletes on and off the court. I look forward to having Daniel’s influence in the gym."

Jones comes to Provo after spending this past season as an assistant coach at UNLV, coaching setters and assisting in offensive game plan development and execution.

Prior to his time with the Rebels, he was the head coach at Montana State from 2017 to 2022, where he led the Bobcats to three-straight winning seasons and six-consecutive double-digit win seasons.

While at Montana State, he coached 14 all-conference selections, 18 academic all-conference team selections, a libero of the year and freshman of the year.

Jones also spent two years in Bozeman as an assistant coach, the 2014 season as an assistant at Utah Valley, and was the director of operations at the University of Utah from 2010 to 2014.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Jones was raised in New Zealand and earned his degree in education from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

He married Lacee Koelliker, former Utah Valley setter and assistant coach, in 2012. They have four children: Adalee, Kaden, Marra and Quinnlee.
