PROVO, Utah — No. 35 BYU women's tennis heads to the midwest for matchups with Iowa State on Thursday and No. 58 Kansas on Saturday for the beginning of a three-match road stretch for the Cougars. 

The match against Kansas State is set for 11 a.m. MDT Thursday, and the match against Kansas will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday. Fans can follow @byuwtennis on social media for live updates and visit byucougars.com for match results.

No. 35 BYU Notes:

  • Head coach Holly Hasler is in her sixth season with a record of 69-49. Assistant coach Gabby Curtis is in her third season.
  • The Cougars are 11-2 this season, including a win over No. 65 Kansas State (4-1) and a loss against No. 1 Oklahoma State (2-5) last week.
  • Bobo Huang (10-1) leads BYU in singles victories with ten.
  • Tina Li (8-4) is second on the team in singles victories with eight wins.
  • Kendall Kovick (7-4) and Kara Wheatley (7-3) both have seven singles wins each.
  • The doubles team of Wheatley and Li is currently undefeated with ten doubles victories (10-0).
  • Huang and Kaavya Sawhney's doubles record stands at 8-2 for the year, second on the team in doubles victories.
  • Emilee Astle and Kovick secured a doubles upset for the Cougars over Oklahoma State last week by defeating the nationally-ranked No. 5 team of Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru, 6-2.
  • Huang is currently ranked No. 74 in singles nationally.
  • BYU is ranked No. 35 in the country.

Iowa State Notes:

  • The Cyclones are 2-8 (0-3 Big 12), with a loss against No. 57 Kansas (2-5) last weekend.
  • They finished last season with a 21-6 record and were undefeated at home, 7-0.
  • Head coach Jaron Maestas is in his first season leading the program and recently spent the last two seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Kansas.
  • Iowa State made it to the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships last year and fell to No. 14 Oklahoma, 3-4. 
  • The Cyclones finished third in the Big 12 last season
  • Iowa State made a run in the NCAA Tournament in 2023, making it to the quarterfinals and falling to No. 4 NC State.
