Cougars fall to No. 3 Longhorns in game one, 13-0

AUSTIN, Texas — BYU softball dropped game one of a three-game series at No. 3 Texas, 13-0 in five innings at Red & Charline McCombs Field on Thursday night.

The Cougars (16-7, 1-3 Big 12) managed just one hit in the contest, a bloop single by the game’s first batter, Ailana Agbayani.

Texas scored first in the bottom of the first, earning a leadoff single before a double off the center field wall to plate one.

The Longhorns batted in seven more runs in the second inning as three BYU pitchers spent time in the circle. Four hits, four walks and a Cougar error gave Texas an 8-0 lead.

Three more runs scored by the Longhorns on a single, walk and home run in the third inning then made it 11,-0, Texas.

Two solo shots added to the Longhorn lead in the bottom of fourth, and Texas had a 13-0 advantage.

BYU was retired in order in the top of the fifth inning, sealing the run-rule victory for the Longhorns.
